Community Supported Agriculture

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, a beautiful model where you become an actual member of a farm by buying a share. In return you get a bimonthly box filled with freshly harvested vegetables from the farm. You get to enjoy the delightful tastes of the season while supporting local organic farming!
Our 2010 CSA Shares are no longer available. Please stay tuned for next season information.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality. We have a cycle of events to harvest and pack our produce. Each crop has different post harvest requirements to enable maximum shelf life. We have two large coolers dedicated to keeping our produce at favorable temperatures and deliver in a refrigerated van. Your share should be optimal quality. Please do your best to pick up as promptly as possible to ensure the quality is reflected in your kitchen. We also ask that you unpack your box into recycled plastic or cloth bags for two reasons – so you can see right away the quality – if there is something not right please inform us, and so we can get our boxes back in good condition so to recycle and decrease our waste
Please take a look at our share options, deadlines, and prices. Select an application below according to your locale:

Local Trade Membership
We offer more participation with our farm through our Local Trade Membership. Our Trade Membership is mainly for our local community who can make a 4 hour commitment per box of fresh produce to participate in the farm activities for the season. Tuesdays and Wednesdays will likely be harvesting and Thursdays will be pack days inside, but things are always weather-based so there are no guarantees so please be prepared to go with the flow in whatever is on the list for the day. We also welcome ideas for special trades, if you have a skill to offer that we may benefit and you are willing to trade for food let us know, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
We will also accept market trade members, people who help at markets in Chicago and Mineral Point these positions are very limited so contact us soon if you are interested. Please contact us for details, requirements and information on how to get involved and get on the farm. Choices for shifts will narrow as we fill up, so if you are interested don’t hesitate!
Wisconsin and Madison Area Celebrate!!!
We have recently been endorsed by MACSAC, please visit their website for more details on how you can benefit by being CSA members of our farm.

Fruit and Nut Bearing Woodlands
Hearkening back to the images of medieval groves, King’s Hill Farm is developing an Edible Forest, where fruit and nut trees grow in tandem with perennials. Growth across this spring forest floor supports an early harvest of plants that take advantage of the as of yet undeveloped forest canopy. With the arrival of summer, hickory, hazelnuts, plums, wild cherries, apples and plums will grow together, each to be harvested according to their own calendar. Pollination of our crops will occur ‘in house’ by King’s Hill Farm’s own honeybee hives, which will deliver delicious honey seasonally.

Organic Livestock
In keeping with the organic and permaculture ideal of using natural means to accomplish all tasks as locally as possible, King’s Hill Farm raises turkeys, roosters, hens, ducks, geese and pigs for their individual benefits mainly, POO. We rotate all the animals to fresh ground often so to fertilize new ground and to provide these animals with the best life possible as payment for their work on the farm and their ultimate sacrifice to our freezer. We do not raise these animals for meat sales although we may be interested to sell some of their offspring to other folks interested in raising their own meat.
